Updates

We are nearing the end of the year. I feel like this year flew by. Now it is time to get your child ready for 5th grade! We are beginning to learn about decimals in math. We will learn how to read, and write decimals to the thousandths place, and find equivalent decimals. We will also relate decimals to fractions and compare and order them. We will take a short quiz on Friday. In reading, we are beginning our fairy tale unit. We will be reading original fairy tales, then performing fractured fairy tale plays. Our plays will be Claynocchio, based on Pinocchio, the Cheetah and the Sloth, based on the Tortoise and the Hare, and the Popsicle Boy, based on the Gingerbread Man. In writing we have started our fictional narrative writing. We read the Mysteries of Harris Burdick. Students were able to choose a picture from the story, with a quote and title to help them get started. We are going to be learning how to develop a character and a conflict in our writing. On Wednesday we have our Map celebration as a class. We will be playing kickball in the morning, so make sure your child has tennis shoes that day. In the afternoon we will be watching a movie and eating ice cream sundaes. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Coming soon: The 17 days of May!
